Columbus returned to the upside in the first quarter

12/05/2023 13:38
In the first quarter of 2023, the Columbus Energy Group generated revenues of PLN 128 million. The EBITDA of more than PLN 8 million generated by the Group represents a significant improvement as compared with the previous quarters.

According to the published quarterly report, in the first three months of this year, the Columbus Group generated revenues of PLN 128.1 million, comparable to the fourth quarter of 2022. The consolidated EBITDA amounted to PLN 8.2 million.

The revenues generated by the Group in the first quarter of this year show that after regulatory perturbations the home photovoltaic industry can still be a long-term, stable business – claims Dawid Zieliński, the President of the Management Board of Columbus Energy S.A.In contrast, the Group revenue structure shows a clear share of sales made in the Czech Republic. Columbus Energy a.s. generated nearly PLN 23 million as part of its core operations during the period, and this is only the second quarter of sales conducted in this market. The energy storage segment also represents a very significant change in the revenue structure. Sales revenues in this segment increased as much as twelvefold year-on-year (from PLN 1.4 million in 2022 to PLN 16.5 million in 2023), and it will probably be the next product after heat pumps whose sales will become significant in the coming quarters and years.

Summing up the past quarter, the Columbus Management Board emphasises that the Company continues its transformation into a more cost- and margin-efficient organisation. As regards the successes of the period under review, the Management Board mentions, among other things, the Company listing on the main floor of the WSE and the commencement of operations in Ukraine.

Through the company established there, we will supply Ukrainian homes with our ecosystem, i.e. photovoltaics, heat pumps and energy storage. We hope that the demand for RES solutions over the next few years will be huge there, which will allow us to use our competence to meet the energy needs of this market – comments Dawid Zieliński.

Columbus is currently focusing on several key areas, such as optimising costs and increasing the efficiency of the core business, launching operations in new markets, developing new services and streams of revenues, building new photovoltaic farms and finalising the sale of the farms to Engie, continuing to work on BESS (large-scale energy storage) technology and financing, as well as developing IT tools and the ecosystem.

– In the coming weeks, we will also announce the new strategy of the Group, including details of our business model and growth plans for the coming years. And because Columbus tends to surprise the market, there will be plenty of surprises this time, tooadds Dawid Zieliński.
